HISTORY AND ACTIVITIES

Founded in November of 1959 the mission of the San Marino Chamber of Commerce is to promote the economic well-being of the community, to be an advocate for its members and to provide community leadership.

The Chamber is governed by an eleven to fifteen member Board of Directors, each serving a two-year term. Executive Officers are chosen from the Board each year, and serve a two-year term.

Working in partnership with the City, the Chamber plays an active roll in supporting the local businesses and in recruiting new businesses to San Marino. Having been an active participant in developing the City's Commercial Plan, the Chamber is well equipped to assist prospective businesses in finding a suitable location and obtaining the necessary permits and business licenses. The Chamber is proud of the working relationship and what we have accomplished in conjunction with the real estate and commercial property brokers with listings in the City. We hope you will contact the Chamber if we can be of assistance.

Each month the Chamber hosts:
Chamber Mixers
Second Thursday of the Month
5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Hosted by various local businesses and restaurants
The public is welcome

The Chamber is an active participant in various citywide events. The Chamber hosts a An Evening at the Huntington in the Spring, showcasing the talents of local restaurants at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens. In September, the Chamber honors our local Police and Fire departments with the annual Police & Fire Appreciation Luncheon, with one honoree from each department. In October the Chamber celebrates Chamber membership with the annual Members Milestone Breakfast honoring members as they reach milestones. During the holiday season, the Chamber and local merchant's on Huntington Drive host Christmas Around the Drive, an open house event, complete with Santa arriving at City Hall, and carolers strolling the drive. There are refreshments, and entertainment providing an opportunity for residents, local businesses, friends and neighbors to enjoy a festive evening in town.

The Chamber has been responsible for the transformation of the bus-stop at the corner of Huntington Drive and San Marino Avenue, into what is known around town as the Little Christmas House, since the 1950’s. Spear-headed and funded by the Chamber each year, local residents, civic organizations and boy scouts come together for this annual transformation.

For more information about Chamber events, please watch for updates on the Chamber calendar. The San Marino Tribune also features coverage of all Chamber events.
